Netball Information Sheet
Welcome to Kedron Indoor Sports. This information sheet is written with the intent of assisting management to provide a better organised competition with the co-operation of players, umpires and spectators.
Cost of game
- Cost: $70 (Games fees) + $70 Bond
- The games fees are a team charge not a player charge ie. If your team does not have the full 7 players you are still required to pay full fees
Team captains role
- Ensure team cards are signed by all players and returned to games counter, along with games fees.
- Ensure bond is paid before 3rd game of the season. If not, your team will lose 2 points per game until paid.
- Only the team captain may ask for ruling clarification from the umpire during the break and/or after the game. A copy of the rules is available to borrow from the games counter.
- Team captains are responsible for checking the notice/score boards for important information to keep their team informed.
- It is the captain’s responsibility to check for their team’s position on the ladder and the possible times that they will be playing in all finals. All teams must have all outstanding monies (games fees and bonds) finalised prior to taking the court for finals – no exceptions.
Mixed teams
Team captains must ensure that the correct balance and positioning of male players is maintained throughout the game (Min 2 & Max 3 Males). If 3 males take the court, their positions shall include: GS or GA, WA or C or WD, GD or GK. If 2 males take the court , they still have the option of two of these three playing positions.
Tem shortages and fill ins
If your team is experiencing difficulties in fielding a full team the centre will be able to organise fill in players for you. Teams must realize, though, that if we are to be successful in helping you we need as much notice as possible. All players must play a minimum of 6 games in a season for the same team to be eligible for finals. As there are no exceptions, ensure you have spare players qualified for finals in case of injury, illness or absenteeism.
Late penalties will apply for teams not on court ready to start on time. Penalty = 1 goal/minute (max. 10 goals) for every minute the game has not commenced.
Forfeits
We know there is nothing more annoying than turning up for your game and the other team doesn’t show. To try and combat this problem, a bond will be payable at the start of the season. If a team forfeits, they lose their bond. By taking a bond of one games fee in advance, we hope all teams will make the effort to play all of their scheduled games, thus avoiding the ‘no show’ situation for the opposing team. Providing your team plays all of their scheduled games without forfeits, you shall receive your bond back at the end of the season. If your team elects to return for the new season, your bond will automatically rollover for the new season. NB: If your team does forfeit then you must repay your bond before the commencement of your next game. If not, your team will lose 2 points per week until repaid. These points are not retrievable.
Uniform penalties
All players must be in the same colours, both tops and bottoms. Eg. Red shirts with black bottoms. Bottoms mean any player may wear shorts, skirts, bike shorts or track pants. You are allowed to have up to one player out of uniform before any penalties are applied. Penalties – 3 goals for each player out of uniform (max. 9 goals) are awarded to the non-offending team.
Jewellery
All netball players must remove all jewellery with the exception of medical ID and wedding bands which must be taped. All long nails must be taped.
Bibs
can be hired for $2/game. You may also supply your own or order a set from the games counter.
Player insurance
Players participating in any sport at this centre do so at their own risk. This centre does not have player insurance.
Best and fairest
Umpires will nominate a player from the game each night and the person with the most votes for their grade for the season shall receive a trophy on grand final night.
Encouragement
The umpire will issue an encouragement voucher for a free soft drink to a player. This encouragement award is designed to encourage players to “keep going” or to say “well done”.
Points table
- 4 points for a win
- 2 points for a draw:
- 1 point for each 10 goals scored in a game, regardless of win or loss.
- 7 points – BYE
- +7 – win on a forfeit plus 30 goals
- -7 – forfeit minus 30 goals and loss of bond
- Full games fees must be paid for on the night. If your team cannot cover the full cost of the game, the difference must be paid the following week.
Umpires
Verbal abuse of our umpires will not be tolerated. Although the umpires are in control of the game and have full support of the management, we are still approachable regarding any area you want clarification on. Penalties will apply to umpire, equipment (yours or the centre’s) and player abuse. One warning may be given, but it is not necessary for aggressive or abusive behaviour and this may involve the player being asked to leave the court. It is at the co-ordinator’s discretion to take further action if required. Any complaints about teams, players or umpires please see your co-ordinator immediately. Violent behaviour will result in players being suspended from the centre.
We encourage all teams to play the game in a sportsman like manner.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to see any of our staff at the games counter. Management and staff at Kedron Indoor Sports wishes everyone an enjoyable season.
